As America @ 250 draws to a close, we do not shy away from the complexities or struggles of the past. We honor them by choosing what we create next.

Inspired by the joint vision of Dr. Archima Major, Founder of Atelier Africa, and the dynamic leadership of Africatown/ACANA, and set against the historic backdrop of America @ 250, the AFRICATOWN ONE DIASPORA GALA brings together communities across the Global African Diaspora for an extraordinary evening of celebration, reflection, cultural excellence, and shared possibility.
At this historic moment, we gather not only to honor where we have come from, but to celebrate who we are today and to imagine, together, what we can build for generations to come.
As America commemorates 250 years, we recognize that the American story is inseparable from the stories and contributions of people of African descent and from the extraordinary movements for freedom, dignity, independence, and self-determination that have transformed communities across the world.
From the Civil Rights Movement in the United States to African independence movements, from the liberation traditions of the Caribbean to the enduring histories and contributions of Black and Indigenous peoples, generations before us confronted adversity with courage, creativity, faith, and an extraordinary capacity to endure, rebuild, and rise.
Their resilience did more than overcome barriers. It helped shape nations, transform institutions, inspire movements, and influence the very fabric of modern global culture.
The AFRICATOWN ONE DIASPORA GALA honors that inheritance while looking boldly toward what comes next.

A Note From the Founder of Atelier AfricaÂ

I created The Atelier: Africa because, quite simply, I wanted to create the kinds of experiences I wanted to attend.
I wanted to walk into a room that felt elevated, beautiful, culturally rich, and unmistakably ours—a space where African and Diasporic excellence was not simply included, but centered.
I envisioned an experience where fashion could live alongside art, music, design, food, conversation, and philanthropy; where our heritage could be honored without being confined to the past; and where contemporary African creativity could be experienced with the sophistication, luxury, and global relevance it deserves.
That vision became The Atelier: Africa.
Atelier was created as a cultural fashion and fundraising platform celebrating the creativity, innovation, and global influence of Africa and its Diaspora. It is a place to discover extraordinary emerging and established designers and artists, cultivate meaningful cross-cultural connections, and bring together people who appreciate culture, creativity, beauty, and purpose.
But ultimately, my hope is much simpler.
I want people to come because they are curious, inspired, and excited—and leave feeling proud, connected, and wanting more.
Because African culture is not simply something to preserve or remember. It is about living, evolving, influencing, and shaping the world around us.
The Atelier: Africa is my invitation to truly experience it.
